The artist

Since 1972 the artist Geert Schreuder lives in the province of Groningen, Holland. He creates oil and acrylic paintings, in which sometimes buildings, animals or human figures appear. His work has been exhibited in museums of Veendam, Ter Apel, Warfum and in galleries in Groningen, Amsterdam, Leeuwarden, The Hague, Hoorn, Bussum, Nijkerk, Bergen op Zoom and other Dutch cities. Also his work has been shown in Germany and Poland. He joined international art fairs like Laren Art Fair, Utrecht Art Fair, Art Rotterdam and more.

Two artist’s books have been published: in 1998 a book with a series of paintings inspired on a poem of the Dutch poet Koos Schuur and in 2006 a book with a series of paintings of old church buildings in Nothern Holland with contributions of the writer Fons van Wanroy.

Besides his autonomous works, he is regularly commisioned to paint landscapes, portraits of historical scenes. He was commissioned by the Veenkoloniaal Museum in Veendam, the Memorial Center Camp Westerbork, the STAR in Stadskanaal, the Abbey of Ter Apel, among many other institutions, companies and private commisioners. Also over the years Geert Schreuder illustrated more than 60 books. The complete collection of these illustrated books is being conserved by the Local History Center of Stadskanaal.
